Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 August 2026

ZUQAH TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED ("Zuqah", "we", "us", "our") operates the website zuqah.com and the products Vardham, Aram and Zournal. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here.

1. Scope

Our products differ materially in how they handle data, so this policy is organised product by product. Read the section for the product you use. Sections 6 to 12 apply to all our products and to this website.

2. Zournal

Zournal is designed so that your journal content stays on your own device.

Because your content stays on your device, we cannot recover it if you lose or reset your device, or uninstall the app. Please use your device's own backup facility if you want a copy.

If Zournal offers a paid subscription, that transaction is processed by the app store (Google Play or the Apple App Store) or by our payment processor, and is handled as described in Section 5.

Deleting the app deletes your content. See Section 9.

3. Vardham

Vardham is business software used by shopkeepers. It handles two different categories of data.

Data about the business user (our customer)

Business data the shopkeeper enters

Where a shopkeeper enters details of their own customers, the shopkeeper decides what to collect and why. Zuqah processes that data on the shopkeeper's instructions, as a data processor. The shopkeeper is responsible for having a lawful basis to collect it and for responding to their customers' requests. We make the tools available to export and delete such records.

How Vardham data is processed

4. Aram

Aram is used by service providers (such as milk vendors, gym operators, vehicle cleaners and tutors) and by their customers.

Children. Aram is intended for use by adults. Where a tutor records a student's attendance or progress, the account belongs to the tutor and to the parent or guardian — not to the child. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 18. Where content concerning a child is stored, the tutor and the parent or guardian control it, and either may request its deletion at any time.

Payments in Aram are recorded by the parties themselves. Aram does not verify payments with any bank and does not hold or transmit money.

5. Payments

We do not store your full card number, UPI PIN, CVV, or bank credentials. Subscription payments are handled by our payment processor or by the app store you purchased through, each of which operates under its own privacy policy. We retain only the transaction reference, amount, date and status, which we need for accounting and tax records.

6. Why we process your data

We process personal data to provide and operate the service you have signed up for; to authenticate you; to bill you and maintain statutory accounting records; to provide support; to keep our systems secure and detect misuse; to comply with law; and to improve our products. Where the law requires your consent, we ask for it and you may withdraw it.

7. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

We share data with service providers who help us operate: cloud hosting and database providers, communication providers (SMS, WhatsApp Business API), payment processors, and error-monitoring tools. Each is bound to use the data only to provide their service to us.

We disclose data where we are required to by law, court order, or a lawful request from a government authority, and where necessary to establish or defend legal claims.

If our business is transferred or merged, personal data may transfer with it. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

8. Where data is held, and for how long

Data for Vardham and Aram is hosted in India. Some of our service providers may process limited data outside India; where they do, we require appropriate safeguards.

We keep account and business data for as long as your account is active. After you close your account we delete or anonymise personal data within 90 days, except where we are required to retain records for a longer period — most commonly financial and tax records, which Indian law requires us to keep for up to eight years. Zournal content is never held by us at all.

9. Deleting your account and data

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. Full instructions, including what is deleted and what we must retain, are on our account deletion page: https://zuqah.com/account-deletion

For Zournal, uninstalling the app removes the encrypted database and all your content from your device.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to give you access to the personal data we hold about you; correct or complete inaccurate data; delete your data; and provide a summary of processing. You may withdraw consent where processing relies on it, and you may nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.

Write to privacy@zuqah.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting.

If you are the customer of a shop or service provider using our software, please contact that business directly. They decide what data about you is held. We will assist them in responding to you.

11. Security

We use encryption in transit, encryption at rest, access controls, and authentication by one-time password rather than stored passwords in Aram. Zournal's database is encrypted on the device with AES-256.

No system is perfectly secure. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected users as the law requires.

12. This website

zuqah.com is an informational website. We use only cookies that are necessary for the site to function. We do not run advertising or third-party tracking on it. If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can respond and maintain a record.

13. Grievance Officer
